How it's calculated
This converter uses the Umm al-Qura calendar, the official calendar of Saudi Arabia, from a month table built into this site, so every browser gives the same date. Conversions work on whole days, so your time zone never moves the result to another day.
Supported range: 1 Muharram 1365 AH to the end of Dhu al-Hijjah 1500 AH (1945–2077 CE). Outside this range no result is shown, because we never fall back to an approximate calendar. Published tables can differ by a day for dates before 1392 AH (1972 CE).
Hijri months have 29 or 30 days. The day list follows the real length of the selected Umm al-Qura month.

Why Ramadan and Eid can differ by a day
The start of Ramadan and the dates of the two Eids are announced after sighting the new crescent moon. Umm al-Qura is a calculated calendar, so an observed date can differ from it by a day.

A Hijri year has 354 or 355 days, about 11 days fewer than a Gregorian year. A rough rule is: Gregorian year ≈ Hijri year × 0.97 + 622. For 1448 AH this gives about 2026.

What is the Umm al-Qura calendar?
It is the calculated lunar calendar used for official and civil dates in Saudi Arabia. Each month begins according to astronomical rules rather than a local moon sighting.
Why does another website show a different date?
Some sites use a tabular (arithmetic) Islamic calendar or another country's calendar, which can differ by a day or two. This converter always uses Umm al-Qura and says so next to the result.
Which years can I convert?
1365–1500 AH, which is 1945–2077 CE. Dates outside this range are rejected rather than estimated.
